Huron Ohio to Cleveland Ohio 55 miles - Lake Erie is awesome....

Today we bicycled along the banks of Lake Erie.  You see why they call these lakes the "Great Lakes".  I felt like I was at the beach on the Pacific Ocean....

The beginning of the ride (first 20 miles) was tough as we had minimal shoulder to ride, lots of pot holes and a few drivers that were not very courteous.  We were very happy when the roads improved a bit.  We were thrilled when we actually had a bike lane.

Our first rest stop was in the cute little down town of Vermillion.  One of the cutest down town areas we have cycled through.

We also biked through Sheffield Lake, Avon Lake & Rocky River.

We stopped at a little restaurant in Avon Lake to have coffee & pie.  While we were inside, it begain to rain.  It rained bucket fulls.  We waited and waited and finally the rain let up and we got back outside to finish our ride.

We rode through some beautiful residential areas along Lake Erie and then turned a corner and there it was..... the city of Cleveland.  We had a fantastic view.  We then bicycled through Cleveland Lakefront State Park.  This park had a bike trail that meandered along and the park was busy with activity.  We felt a beautiful welcome to the city of Cleveland.

Getting to our hotel in the city traffic was a bit tricky, but we had great directions that took us there safely.

This was our nicest rest stop yet.  This comfort station is at the town center in Vermillion Ohio.

Vermillion Ohio.  I would love to go back to this little town and stay on the banks of Lake Erie.

Lake Erie

The great Lake Erie.

One of the many rivers we crossed.

In the town of Rocky River.  "How much is the doggy in the window?".  He was  probably the owner's dog in this flower shop.  He was enjoying watching us as much as we were enjoying looking at him.

The homes along Lake Erie were magnificent.  This was one of the more modest homes.  Some were huge.  I liked the more architectural historical homes.

We turned the corner and there was Cleveland. A bit in the clouds, but lovely to see.

Our guide Denise Perdue is leaving us here in Cleveland.  She was a great guide and fun person.
Patty, our chef is becoming our guide and Sue Lincoln is joining us as our new chef.  We also have six riders joining us for the 2nd half as we bike to Bar Harbor Maine.

Donna doing an encore presentation of her poem.

These three look so solemn but believe me the were having a blast.
Lea, Carol and Ramsey are leaving us here in Cleveland.  We will miss them but I'm hopeful our paths will cross again.

So, now I have a rest day in Cleveland Ohio.  My goals today are to:  rest, catch up on my blog and emails, go to Starbucks, clean my bike and take a trolley tour of Cleveland.

Keep the emails coming my friends friends and family. (rhondalinrose@yahoo.com)  I enjoy hearing from you along my journey.  We live in a beautiful country!
